Big XII Bowl Projections

During the fall, we publish bowl projections from around football experts web every week beginning after any team gets to six wins. We also provide analysis on the projections and make a pick ourselves we call, “The Crazy Bowl Projection.” This week, we are providing pre-season bowl projections and commentary on the Power 5 conferences, and next week we’ll cover notable independents and several leading Group of 5 teams.

Going Bowling – All five sources have West Virginia, Texas, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Iowa State going to a bowl game, and two have Texas Tech getting to a bowl. Baylor and Kansas are unanimous picks to stay home.

A Consensus – All five of the sources called for Iowa State to make the Cactus Bowl, and four of the five called for Oklahoma to appear in the Sugar Bowl, with all of them identifying Oklahoma as the conference champion.

Our Crazy Bowl Projection – Kansas State in the Texas Bowl. How would the Wildcats get there? Bill Snyder has led the Wildcats to bowl games for eight consecutive seasons. They have a challenging schedule, including a non-conference game against Mississippi State, and trips to Morgantown, Norman, Fort Worth and Ames.

What if we applied that to the entire conference? – What makes them crazy is that we try to make sure none of our selections cannot have been made by any of the five sources sampled and that really limits the bowl games available to any team. After the bowl season, we’ll take a look back.
