SEC Baseball Tournament, Day 4

FLORIDA 12 – MISSISSIPPI STATE 3

The top-seeded Florida Gators used an 11-Run eighth inning rally to defeat the Bulldogs.   The Bulldogs were on cruise control through seven innings behind Cole Gordon, who was baffling Gator hitters.   Gordon pitched a season high seven shutout innings, before leaving in the eighth.   The Gators sent 15 batters to the plate, and scored nine runs with two outs in the frame.   The win moved the Gators into Saturday’s Semi-Final.

 

 

SOUTH CAROLINA 3 – KENTUCKY 1

Pinch hitter T J Hopkins blasted a three-run homer over the left field wall, giving the Gamecocks a stunning victory over the Wildcats.   Kentucky opened the scoring in the top of the first, scoring on a ground out by Luke Becker.   Gamecock starter Adam Hill then matched zeroes with Justin Lewis, before Hopkins heroics.  It was the first time since 2004, that the Gamecocks had won three games in the SEC tournament.   They will face LSU on Saturday.

ARKANSAS 9 – MISSISSIPPI STATE 2

Dominic Fletcher belted a solo home run, breaking a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth.   The Razorbacks then followed that up, scoring five more runs in the inning.   Jax Biggers went 3-5 with three RBI’s, pacing a Hogs lineup, that featured all nine starters reaching base.   Blaine Knight improved his record to 8-4, while striking out nine.   The win moved Arkansas into the semi-finals on Saturday to face Florida.
