Penn State in Pasadena?  Penn State’s victory over Ohio State isn’t going to put Penn State into the College Football Playoff, but it makes it very likely that they will be in the top tier of the Big Ten Conference bowl selections.  The Nittany Lions have a very good chance to get to the Orange Bowl, Citrus Bowl, Outback Bowl or the Holiday Bowl.  To do means that they’ll need to keep winning, but their schedule won’t be as difficult going forward, they face only one team with a winning record the rest of the season –Iowa at home.  If the Lions run the table, they’ll likely have the best record of Big Ten teams after the College Football Playoff and Rose Bowl selections are made.  If Penn State wins out and Ohio State falls to Michigan, it gets even more interesting.  The Lions would have the same record as Ohio State and hold the head-to-head tie-breaker.  If Michigan were to win the Big Ten Championship Game and move into the College Football Playoff, the Rose Bowl may be dialing up State College.

Who could upset the apple cart this weekend?  For starters, No. 16 Utah hosts No. 4 Washington, and No. 12 Florida State hosts No. 3 Clemson.   At No. 7 Nebraska travels to No. 11 Wisconsin and  No. 2 Michigan travels to East Lansing.  The Spartans have won three in a row over the Wolverines, and the Badgers have three straight from the Huskers.

Other games that have big impacts on the bowl selections for the teams involved include Maryland at Indiana, Florida vs. Georgia.  Cal vs. USC, Miami at Notre Dame, Arizona State at Oregon and Auburn at Ole Miss.
